Colon cancer affects all races, genders and ethnicities and is the third most common cancer among men and women. Screening for colon cancer can often find it early when it's easiest to treat, removing polyps before they have a chance to turn into cancer. We have partnered with Exact Sciences Laboratories, the exclusive vendor of Cologuard, to deliver colon cancer screening kits to eligible members at no extra cost. This convenient, non-invasive screening requires no prep and can be completed in the comfort of your home.

If you have any questions about Cologuard or how to use your kit, contact the Exact Sciences Laboratories Customer Care team at 1.844.870.8870. As always, we encourage you to talk with your provider about results and appropriate screenings.

Eligibility

Aspirus Health Plan members are identified via claims, pharmacy or other records and sent communications on how they may benefit from completing the Cologuard screening kit. If you’re an Aspirus Health Plan member who is 45 years or older at average risk of colon cancer and hasn’t completed a colon cancer screening or colonoscopy in the last year, you may be eligible* to receive a kit. We encourage you to talk with your provider about results and appropriate screenings.

If you’ve had one of the following conditions, please talk with your provider BEFORE completing a Cologuard screening kit. You might need a different approach for colon cancer screening and should discuss that plan first with your provider.

Don’t complete the Cologuard screening kit before talking with your provider if you have a history of:

  • Colon polyps
  • Colon cancer
  • Inflammatory bowel disease, such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease
  • A genetic condition in you or a relative that makes you more at risk for colon cancer, such as Lynch syndrome, juvenile polyposis syndrome or Peutz-Jeghers syndrome
  • A family member with colon cancer
  • An abnormal prior colonoscopy which might require a follow-up colonoscopy
  • Any other condition that you’ve been told puts you at greater risk for colon cancer

Also, if you believe you aren’t yet due for colon cancer screening — such as having had a recent colonoscopy that Aspirus Health Plan might not be aware of — please talk with your provider before completing this screening kit.

This program is voluntary and available at no extra cost to eligible members.
To register or opt out of this program and any Cologuard communications, call 1.844.902.6434, 7 am – 7 pm, Monday – Friday. You can opt out of communications/this program at any time.


*Cologuard is available at no cost to members who are due for a colorectal (colon) cancer screening based on their applicable plan and recommendations from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) or Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). For additional information on colon cancer screening guidelines please visit the USPSTF website or the CMS preventive services webpage. If you’ve already met these guidelines, you may be charged for completing the Cologuard kit. If you have questions about your plan coverage, please call the Aspirus Health Plan Customer Service number on the back of your member ID card.
